Do you love contemporary music, but feel apprehensive about presenting it to audiences? Do you want to explore the versatility of the harp and all the incredible sounds it has to offer? In Contemporary Communication we will explore beyond the traditional soundworld of the harp and venture into live free improvisation via games and exercises (you’ve been warned – this can be addictive and is almost always far less scary than you’re expecting!). We will also talk about how to effectively communicate contemporary music and improvisation to audiences, and discuss how you go about forming your own interpretation of contemporary works. A part of the course will be dedicated to rhythm – how to work out more complex rhythms, how to build your inner pulse, how to express rhythm effectively to audiences, and we will also explore the role of graphic notation and how liberating it can be! Join me for an adventure in contemporary communication!
